Our People

St James is much more than a church building! We are a community of ordinary people seeking to follow Jesus and share his love in Gatley.

There are countless volunteers who help the church to continue in its mission, and we are very grateful to them all!

Here are just some of the people you might meet when you come along.

Rev Jack Marsh

Jack is our vicar, the church's main minister. He has been leading us since October 2025.

Geoff

Geoff is one of our Licensed Lay Ministers. He is married to Sue and they have 4 grown up sons and 9 grandchildren.

Anna

Anna looks after all our children's work and lots more beside.

Neil

Neil is one of our Licenced Lay Ministers. He has lived in Gatley and Cheadle for nearly 30 years and went to Gatley Primary School. He is married to Anne and they have 3 grown up children.

Mike

Mike is one of our churchwardens - an elected volunteer who helps oversee the church building and the practical running of the church.

Gary

Gary is one of our churchwardens - an elected volunteer who helps oversee the church building and the practical running of the church.

Diane

Diane is our Parish Safeguarding Officer and helps us make sure that St James is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. She is a point of contact for anyone with a safeguarding question or concern and supports the church in following good safeguarding practice.
